The Roland Crisis Closet has been in existence since 1994 serving the community of Roland. We are open two Saturdays a month (normally the 2nd and 4th) from 8 to 10 am. We serve any person who is in need who lives within our service area. Each Saturday we are open we provide food to approximately 40 families (or 300 people).
The Crisis Closet is staffed entirely by volunteers and exists solely on donations. We utilize those donations to purchase food and supplies from the Arkansas Food Bank. Because we can purchase food at greatly reduced prices, a donation of money goes much farther with us than a donation of food. For example, a donation of $45 will purchase approximately 250 pounds of food. We also provide non-perishable household items and even pet food at no cost.
There are people who are mobility impaired and can't buy food. Others are unemployed or underemployed and simply can't afford to purchase the food they need.
The Roland Crisis Closet exists to get food to those in need.
